The pub is over 300 years old, and sits at the heart of the village high above Eastbourne in the South Downs National Park. It is on the South Downs Way and near to Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters Country Park. We serve local ales and seasonal food and offer a large and well presented garden, which includes a barn and sheltered terrace for dining, with lovely views of the South Downs.

Sumptuous Sunday Lunch :)

5 of 5 starsReviewed 1 May 2015

Popped in for Sunday Lunch having walked over the downs. The lamb was the best I've had in years. Simply beautiful. Perfectly cooked and deliciously tender. Good value, great staff, excellent wines and beer too :) 10/10

Rings my bell!

We came here as a family, and our group was made up of grandparents, adults, toddlers, and a baby, and we all left happy.
There's not a massive amount of parking, but we all managed, a nice beer garden, and comfortable seating inside.
Traditional decor with modern touches, but this is definitely a classic countryside pub.
There's a good variety of choices on the menu, plus a specials board, and it was all delicious and cooked perfectly.
Next time we're in the area I'd definitely be happy to go here again.

“What a turnaround”

New catering has produced a complete revolution in the food here. Menu great food tasty quick and pleasant service, in a warm and friendly atmosphere with plenty of country charm. Well done and long may it continue.

Hadn't visited the Bells in a while and heard that a new restaurant manager had been brought in so visited with family this week. Delicious fresh locally sourced food which looked fantastic, dietary requirements catered for without issue and excellent value for the quality we received. There was a real buzz about the place which extended to the staff who were friendly and helpful. Looking forward to our next visit!

We look forward to welcoming you to the Eight Bells soon.
